As a Retail and Restaurant Operations Intern, duties range from greeting and serving guests in the dining room and country store, to gaining knowledge of hands-on operations and business/restaurant management.
Working in conjunction with the retail staff, service staff, and management, Retail and Restaurant Operations Interns’ responsibilities include:
- Providing quality customer service as you greet, seat, and serve guests in our charming, rustic dining room, and assist guests with product questions and retail purchases in our country store.
- Further assisting prep, wait staffs, and Culinary and Kitchen Operations Interns to expedite fulfillment of orders once they are completed by the kitchen staff and assist with takeout orders.
- Learning the retail operations of the store and how to effectively and correctly select, order, and process inventory, plan and construct merchandise displays, and manage retail operations.
- Learning essential management functions associated with general management and administration including customer service, vendor relations, human resources, supply chain and procurement, compliance with health and safety regulations, and marketing by shadowing and assisting the assistant and general managers and shift leaders.

Educational/Experience/Skill Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a continuing education/college program in a related field
- Must have proper identification to verify employment authorization
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and restaurant employees
- Must be able to understand and read basic cooking instructions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an intern encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the intern primarily operates in a restaurant environment. This role routinely uses sinks and restaurant appliances. Interns in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals.
