Description
If you are wanting an internship that delivers practical work experience in a fun environment...all while developing your leadership skills then our Restaurant Internship is for you! You will learn Front-of-the-House and Back-of-the-House operations.
Summary of Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Back-of-the-House:
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment according to restaurants standardized recipes
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
- Ensure food is stored at the appropriate temperature for the appropriate length of time and follow all food safety standards
- Evaluates food quality
- Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables and other hot/cold food products. Always provide the highest quality of food service to customers
- Help with inventory control
- Help with the scheduling of the kitchen staff
- Help with ordering
Front-of-the-House:
- Presenting menus, serving and helping customers select food/beverages
- Take/serve orders and answer questions or make recommendations for other products
- Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff
- Make sure food is delivered to customers in a timely fashion
- Issue bills and accept payment
- Handle voids and customer concerns
- Help with the scheduling of the front-of-the-house staff
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a continuing education/college program
- Demonstrates effective time management and organization skills
- Proven verbal communication skills
- Attention to details
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Customer-oriented approach and patience
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Attention to cleanliness and safety
