Description
This position is responsible for working with the Public Relations Team in Marketing in the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the park’s public relations programs and activities. Under the direction of the supervising staff member to whom the intern directly reports, intern will be immersed in the public relations and marketing of a world-class vacation destination with exposure to all marketing, regardless of specialization. Intern will create traditional (internal and external) digital and social media content for theme parks, lodging and dinner show partners. Intern also will assist in event planning, preparation and execution, media relations, and promotion execution as requested/ required. In turn, intern will satisfactorily complete individual program requirements to satisfy college/university credit and/or course study requirements.
Dollywood will provide the intern:

Summary of Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explore The Dollywood Company’s history and culture to better contribute to the key messaging for assigned projects.
- Represent the Dollywood Company brands through interaction with visiting media as assigned
- Communicate accurate, compelling and timely information regarding The Dollywood Company that is consistent with public relations and marketing messages
- Understand the phone and computer systems used daily
- Generate social media content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social channels as assigned
- Generate traditional internal and external communication content as assigned
- Generate digital and blog content as assigned
- Capture photographs and video to accompany internal and external content
- Assist in maintaining media databases
- Participate in events from concept to execution as assigned
- Learn to use photography/video-editing apps on mobile devices. Learnt to make quick edits and improvements on all photography/ video taken at The Dollywood Company to be social media acceptable
- Generate digital content as assigned
- Provide copy and image posting services on SMC websites
- Assist the team in the creation of search engine optimized content for use across multiple platforms
- Research digital trends, technology and industry standards
- Assist Social Media Team with analyzing email metrics to improve open, click thru and conversion rates
- Assist Social Media Team with analyzing digital campaigns and website performance

Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college degree program in a related field. (Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Social Media or related field emphasis.)
- Working knowledge of Associated Press style
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check including motor vehicle
- Must reflect Dollywood’s image by being genuinely friendly and caring and by taking pride in their work
- Must be self-motivated and disciplined
- Must be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information
- Must be committed to continuous improvement.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
- Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
- Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, stand and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
- Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
- Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
- Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
