Description
Summary: As a Guest Services Intern, you will work a front line position to first learn more about the company and the department itself. You will then begin to dive into behind the scenes work such as Scheduling, Employee Relations, and Budgeting, to help further your understanding of the management side of business.
Things You Will Learn: Not only will you learn the entry level position of Guest Services, but you will also learn the following:
- All positions of Guest Services- Such as Night Audit, Supervisor, Trainer, etc.
- Guest Resolution- Learning how we investigate guest complaints, and what sort of compensation we offer depending on the issue and severity. This also includes reviewing guest comment cards.
- Forecasting- Determining how business may flow in the next coming weeks
- Scheduling- Schedule team members to cover the desk 24/7, staggering in at different shift times to cover business needs, at multiple properties
- Employee Relations- See how a Performance Evaluation is determined, how a Disciplinary Action is written, and how Incentives are calculated for Employee Retention
- Hiring: Reaching out to applicants, what to look for when interviewing applicants, paperwork needed for orientation, etc.
- Management Shadowing- You won’t just be taught by another line level employee. Our dedicated Intern Manager will spend office time to show you the above things, as well as have you shadow a Supervisor for a day to see how it differs from a line level position. This will also include working in other departments to learn about their operations and different manager styles.
Qualifications
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflict.
-Ability to be creative when responding to guest requests, while staying within established guidelines.
-Knowledge of local area a plus
-Excellent time management skills.
-Excellent problem resolution skills.
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to learn new software
-Ability to learn various topics pertaining to hospitality and the company
-Friendly and Professional demeanor
