Description
Have a love for animals? If so, come join our internship for our Wildlife Encounter. The intern will obtain knowledge of many species of native wildlife, biology, husbandry and care. The intern will also develop public speaking skills and the ability to effectively communicate information with small groups of guests. In this position, the intern will be introduced to the basics of Animal Training including operant conditioning, classical conditioning and positive reinforcement techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily husbandry duties for our collection of native wildlife including American Black Bears, River Otters, Bobcats, Fox, Raccoons, Skunks, Squirrels, Non-venomous snakes, Turtles and Birds of Prey
- Provide education to our guests on general Biology and Ecology of our Smoky Mountain Wildlife
- Assist with regular maintenance and general cleaning
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a continuing education/college program
- Applicant should have an interest/background in Aminal Science, Biology or related field
- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds
- Applicant should be willing to do diverse tasks, learn about wildlife and work cooperatively in a small team setting
- Customer Service experience
- Demonstrates effective time management and organization skills
- Proven verbal communication skills
- Attention to details
- Ability to prioritize
