Description
Summary: As a Group Sales Administrative Intern, you will assist the Group Sales Manager at Soaky Mountain Waterpark with the preparation and planning of group events within the park. You will work independently alongside the Group Sales Manager to run the events direct email and phone line, as well as invoicing, facilitate payments, sending follow up emails and providing exceptional customer service.
Things You Will Learn: Not only will you learn the entry level understanding of Group Sales, but you will also learn the following:
- Invoicing & Payment Processes- Once all details are collected from the client, an event order will be created and sent for review and payment. You will collect payment through the online reservation system, and provide the client with a receipt of payment.
- Daily and Weekly Communication Meetings- To ensure Soaky Mountain has an open line of communication with management/supervisory staff, there will be daily standup meetings for day to day operations as well as weekly recaps to discuss prior events & upcoming events for the season.
- Cross Training Opportunities- Due to the seasonal nature of Soaky Mountain Waterpark, there will be times that assistance will be requested to staff different areas of the park to ensure the best level of customer service is offered. Cross training opportunities will be given to learn entry level positions within the park to allow interns to gain more experience within the waterpark.
- Special Event Setup- There will be events in which large groups visit Soaky Mountain Waterpark during the summer. Group Sales presence to welcome groups into the park will be required on these days. You will also facilitate special event signs placed in the group area, checking in with food and beverage to ensure catered meals are on schedule, setting up yard games, and rearranging furniture to ensure the Base Camp Group Area is presentable for the incoming group.
- Professional Skills- You will have a hands-on approach to customer service, time management and teamwork, as well as exposure to revenue tracking, reporting sales follow-ups to clients in a real world setting.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
-Strong communication and customer service skills (by phone, email or in-person)
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
-Willingness to learn new operating systems, processes and event coordination in a fast-paced environment
-Highly organized and detail oriented
-Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends if needed
-Self-motivated, positive attitude, and eager to learn
-Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to run errands to the post office, Fed-Ex and visiting corporate clients in the area if needed.
-Have an interest in hospitality, events, sales or guest experience
